Join us at specially dedicated Blether and Brew sessions for Playlist for Life "Cuppa Time". You will be able to talk to a trained volunteer to get information and advice about putting together your own playlist.
Playlist for Life is a charity founded in 2013 by writer and broadcaster Sally Magnussonafter the death of her mother, Mamie, who had dementia. They want everyone with dementia to have a unique, personal playlist and everyone who loves or cares for them to know how to use it.
Anyone living with dementia, their friends, family and carers are welcome to these free sessions. We will show you ways of tracking down songs which have special meaning or are just favourites, how to put together a playlist so you have it to hand whenever you want to listen to it, and tell you more about Playlist for Life and the many resources they have on offer.
If you have a device you can play music on, bring it along with you. Otherwise we will have iPads you can borrow during the session. Soft, comfortable headphones are also useful, but don't worry if you don't have any.
More than 20 years of scientificresearchshows that listening to a personal playlist can make living with dementia easier and happier.
Building a personal playlist means exploring someone's life storyto gather the tunes that are most deeply attached to memories and emotions.
