Heather Smyth

Heather worked with ScottishPower for 30 years, retiring in late 2022 from her role as Head of Marketing Communications. While there, she led communications and marketing campaigns across the UK related to gas, electricity, and energy services. Since joining Mearns Kirk Helping Hands, she has brought helpful insight to our communications. In addition to her role as a board member, Heather contributes to both the Fundraising and Digital Committees and volunteers as a driver, offering direct support to our members.

After losing her dad to dementia, Heather felt strongly about giving her time to a cause that meant something personally. Following early retirement, she wanted to support a charity that helps older people, and those living with dementia and their carers. Contributing her professional experience while staying connected to the local community felt like a meaningful way to do that.
