Together at Christmas
Posted: 18 December 2025
We were honoured to be invited to the Royal Foundation “Together at Christmas” Carol Service held in Paisley Abbey last night. The evening celebrated love, compassion and connection, which was a perfect fit with our values at Mearns Kirk Helping Hands.
Compared by Colonel Peter McCarthy, HM Lord Lieutenant of Renfrewshire and Mrs Iona McDonald, Lord Lieutenant of Ayrshire and Arran, the celebration brought together people helping to build a more connected and compassionate world. Music was provided by the Ayrshire Fiddle Orchestra, The Ayrshire Chamber Singers, The Renfrewshire String Ensemble and the Paisley Abbey Choir. There was also plenty of audience participation with everyone invited to join in singing traditional Christmas carols.
To top off a beautiful evening, each guest was presented with a letter from Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales, and gift-wrapped box of sweeties donated by Simon Hannah of JW Filshill. We left feeling very festive and very proud to have been invited to represent the wonderful work of Mearns Kirk Helping Hands.
