We want volunteers to feel valued and supported during their volunteering journey with us.
When you first start your role, you’ll receive support from the staff team to ensure you settle into your role.
All volunteers are asked to complete Volunteer Induction Training as part of their application to Mearns Kirk Helping Hands. This will help you to understand how we work with our members, our ethos and practical things like managing boundaries and confidential information. You’ll also receive a copy of the Volunteer Handbook.
Throughout your time volunteering with us you’ll also be invited to other training opportunities that are complementary to your role. This might include things like First Aid training.
We also like to celebrate and thank our volunteers and so you will also receive an invitation to our Volunteer Celebrations, held twice a year in June and then December.
We also will pay any out of pocket expenses, including your mileage or travel costs incurred as part of your volunteering.
